Giuseppe Amadio
Giuseppe Amadio was born in Todi in 1944, living and working still in the town. After having attended free courses in design and advertising graphics, he worked on signage on an industrial scale. For over twenty years he collaborated as a studio technician with the artist Piero Dorazio, alternating his activity as a painter with that of a designer in the furniture sector. Following an initial material-gestural poetics, today he has arrived at a highly conceptual language that fully expresses his abstract-concrete experience with monochrome and extroflexed. His pictorial technique is certainly influenced by Abstractionism, the style of Lucio Fontana and Spatialism, overcoming the concept of two-dimensionality through the valorization of both matter and space. In fact, Amadio's works do not present lacerations or gashes, but are characterized by soft lines that caress and mark the canvas delicately as if they were footprints. He has held exhibitions since 1980 in Italy and abroad, exhibiting in galleries in Perugia, Rome, Milan, Bologna, Florence and other European capitals such as Berlin. After winning the Arts and Culture Award as Artist of the Year at the Circolo della Stampa in Milan in 2011, his last solo exhibition dates back to 2020 at the Miralli Gallery in Viterbo.
