Gomor
“In the Old Testament "Gomorrah" is one of two cities that were destroyed by God because of the bad manners of its inhabitants. Now it is transformed into prophetic art to reveal, through a current and terribly frank language, the vices and obsessions of 21st Century's Society."
The artist was born in 1992 in Paris starting at a very young age to mark the facades of buildings in his neighborhood with spray cans. Soon his technique was perfected so as to masterfully use innovative techniques to create a recognizable and absolutely distinctive style. Like the Masters of Pop Art - from Keith Haring to Andy Warhol or Roy Lichtenstein - Gomor is particularly impressed by the world of comics so much so that in 2015 he uses recurring and recognizable characters: Wonder Woman, Superman, Donald Duck or Uncle Scrooge. Subsequently he started a series of collaborations with well-known streetwear brands such as Supreme or Louis Vuitton to catapult them into an artistic reality that is as concrete as it is captivating and presumptuous. The young artist, in his own way and in his personal search for accuracy, seems to have found the magic recipe for a perfect balance between the licked drawings of 20th century Pop culture and the spontaneous codes of Street Art. Through works that are falsely light enough to be interpreted as childish, on the contrary its ultimate aim remains to send clear but powerful messages so as to be able to denounce the excesses of Western Capitalism.
