Antonio Longo

Born in Turin in 1960, Antonio Longo currently lives and works in Cuneo. The "manifesto lacerato" is an artistic technique that consists in the opposite process to collage: instead of adding elements to the work, he starts from an artistic object from which parts are detached. Longo has been experimenting for more than twenty years with décollage on wood and canvas until being recognized as the heir of Mimmo Rotella, pioneer of Pop Art in Italy. His art seems to reconstruct the most intimate meanings of the image without limiting the choice of subjects represented that is a new generation that evaluates the manifesto no longer as a symbol of communication and homologation, but as an expression of aesthetic sense and taste. In his works, the tear is an instinctive gesture often built with balance of colors: Longo’s art is life because it represents reality not as it should be but, merely shows it as it is. His works have been presented in successful exhibitions both in Italy (Cuneo, Turin, Milan, Viareggio, Perugia, Verona and Lecce) and abroad (Moscow, Istanbul, Kiev, Prague, Berlin, Cannes).
